Gift Card - FAQ

  1. Can I request a gift card through Internet Banking?

    Yes. If you have an Internet Banking enabled account with transaction rights. Use the Gift Card link in the Requests tab to request for a gift card. Once you provide the beneficiary details and mailing address for the card, you will receive an SMS password to complete the request. Please note that SMS will be sent to the mobile number registered in the Profile section.

  2. Can I request for multiple gift cards?

    Yes. A user can request up to 10 gift cards in a month for an account and at any point of time maximum 10 cards can be active.

  3. Will there be any commission charged for gift card?

    For Default Image Gift Card,Commission is waived off till 31st March 2017. However, commission charges may be implemented in future at the discretion of the bank.

    For Image Based Gift Cards (for specific occasions), an issuance Fees of Rs.105+ST (as applicable) will be debited from your account at the time of card order.

  4. How will I get the gift card?

    The gift card will be dispatched to the address given in your gift card request form.

  5. How many days will take to deliver the gift card?

    The gift card will be dispatched within 10 working days.

  6. What will be the balance in the card when customer receives the gift card?

    The balance in the card will be zero.

  7. How can I top up the card?

    The top up can be done online through Internet Banking. In the Gift Card Page, click the Top Up tab. Enter the top up amount and select the debit account for the transaction. You will receive an SMS password to complete the top up request. Please note that SMS will be sent to the mobile number registered in the Profile section.

  8. Is there any minimum and maximum limit for top up of gift card?

    You can top up a gift card for a minimum of Rs.500 and a maximum of Rs.50000.

  9. How many times the gift card can be topped up?

    The gift card can be topped up for only once.

  10. How much time it will take to top up the card?

    The gift card is topped up instantly.

  11. Will there be any expiry date in the gift card?

    Yes. The expiry date will be printed on the card.

  12. Can I view the status of cards requested by me?

    Yes. You can view the status of cards in ‘View History’ link.

  13. Is it possible to use the gift card in ATM and POS?

    Gift card can be used for POS transactions up to the balance available in the card. Balance enquiry can be done through SBI ATMs using ATM pin. A separate PIN number will be mailed to you.

  14. What should I do if my gift card is lost or stolen?

    If the card is lost or stolen, please immediately report to your branch.

  15. Can I transfer the money between two gift cards?

    No. Money transfer is not possible between two gift cards.

  16. Where can I see the gift card statement?

    The gift card statement can be viewed at https://prepaid.onlinesbi.com

  17. Can I do online transaction with the gift card?

    Yes. You can perform online transactions using a gift card.

  18. How to cancel/close the Gift Card?

    Once the top up amount is used up or after the expiry date (whichever is earlier) the card account is automatically cancelled /closed.

  19. What to do with the card after expiry period. Do I need to return it to bank?

    Cut the card into two or three pieces and dispose it off.
